Side effects

A medication I was taking had caused the inside of my nose to become terribly dry. Consequently, I had become much more susceptible to nosebleeds. Whenever my nose bleeds, I no longer feel in control. To gain the control I feel as though I don’t have when I am bleeding, I decided to allow for the blood to drip on a piece of paper I held below my nose. The result was these, a series of self-portraits, in the most literal sense of the word. I like to think of this project as the first stage of embracing the things that I have no control over. One of these pieces was published as the cover of Clark University’s Stir Magazine Spring 2017 issue.
